A Comparative Study of a Penalty Function , a Repair
نویسنده
چکیده
In this paper we compare the eeects of using various stochas-tic operators with the non-unicost set-covering problem. Four diierent crossover operators are compared to a repair heuristic which consists in transforming infeasible strings into feasible ones. These stochastic operators are incorporated in GENEsYs, the genetic algorithm we apply to problem instances of the set-covering problem we draw from well known test problems. GENEsYs uses a simple tness function that has a graded penalty term to penalize infeasibly bred strings. The results are compared to a non GA-based algorithm based on the greedy technique. Our computational results are then compared, shedding some light on the eeects of using diierent operators, a penalty function, and a repair heuristic on a highly constrained combinatorial optimization problem.

متن کاملA comparative study of two meta-heuristic algorithms in optimizing cost of reinforced concrete segmental lining
In this work, we tried to automatically optimize the cost of the concrete segmental lining used as a support system in the case study of Mashhad Urban Railway Line 2 located in NE Iran. Two meta-heuristic optimization methods including particle swarm optimization (PSO) and imperialist competitive algorithm (ICA) were presented. The penalty function was used for unfeasible solutions, and the seg...

This paper aims to examine the death penalty in Zoroastrianism, the Quran, and the laws of the Islamic Republic of Iran. By studying antient Zoroastrian texts, we face a variety of crimes and punishments such as murder, robbery, adultery, magic, rape, and assault that were always considered to be the worst offenses. Zoroastrian religious scholars wrote books on crimes and their punishment in th...
متن کاملThe Integration of Multi-Factor Model of Capital Asset Pricing and Penalty Function for Stock Return Evaluation
One of the main concerns of investors is the evaluation of the return on investment, which is conducted using various models such as the CAPM (single-factor model), Fama-French three/five-factor models, and Roy and Shijin’s six-factor model and other models known as multi-factor models. Despite the widespread use of these models, their major drawbacks include sensitivity to unexpected changes, ...
متن کاملMinimizing a General Penalty Function on a Single Machine via Developing Approximation Algorithms and FPTASs
This paper addresses the Tardy/Lost penalty minimization on a single machine. According to this penalty criterion, if the tardiness of a job exceeds a predefined value, the job will be lost and penalized by a fixed value. Besides its application in real world problems, Tardy/Lost measure is a general form for popular objective functions like weighted tardiness, late work and tardiness with reje...
